Recently you may have heard of a new club in the morning announcements, the Writing Club, but is it the ‘write’ club for you? Here are the facts.
The club will be run by a group of students.
“Students have mentioned it on and off throughout the years,” said Andrea Villarreal, a teacher in the English department who will be serving as the club sponsor.
It’s being started now because of the interest from students.
There isn’t a set schedule yet, but the first meeting is today, February 14, after school.
“Wednesday, we might do every week to get it started,” said Villarreal. She is also considering every other week.
The meetings will be in Villarreal’s room, room 403 in the English hallway.
The focus of the club will be decided by the interest of the students in the club.
“Where ever the students want to go,” said Villarreal on the direction of the club. She mentioned the possibility of having a website to feature writing, trying slam poetry, working on short stories, and reading work aloud.
The club has already generated some interest. Karina Otten, ‘20, is going to check out the first meeting.
“Because I’m thinking about being a writer and I want more experience,” said Otten on why she was looking into the club.
Time will tell how this club will impact the school.
