This Thursday, Oct. 15 Plainwell students will be attending an all school assembly. It is going to be a leadership workshop with speaker Mike Fritz.
Fritz is a motivational speaker, and former graduate of Plainwell High School.
Nowadays he is regarded as a top speaker about college readiness and leadership, according to his website,
Many students have mixed feelings about the assemblies that the school sets up.
Some students think that assemblies are pointless or boring, and others see them as a fun way to meet new people and gain new skills.
“I think it’ll probably be about student leadership because I’m in student senate and last year we talked about it a lot with Dr. Wright and how he wants us to have more of a voice in the school, like students in general,” said Elise Cooper ‘17.
Cooper seems enthusiastic about the coming assembly.
“It actually does sound kinda interesting, like especially because school assemblies aren’t that fun. That one actually does sounds kind of interesting,” said Cooper.
Other students have expressed their dislike.
“I don’t like assemblies,” said Gary Selner ‘16, “Wouldn’t say I’m too enthused. Seems like it’ll just be like, ‘LEADERSHIP! Ya’ll are gonna be great leaders and blah blah blah’, I see them as not very helpful.”
