The theme may be “A Night at the Masquerade” but masks will not be allowed to be worn during the dance.
Prom will take place at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in downtown Kalamazoo on May 6, 2017.
This year prom has had a lack of advertising and students are trying to figure out what’s happening that night. Coming this week there will be signs and announcements more on prom.
Starting tomorrow tickets will be sold at both lunches for 40 dollars.
“Due to very few kids signing up to help with prom committee it has been difficult to get things done,” Counselor and junior class advisor Emily Johnson said.
In terms of access, there is some parking at the KIA but most students will have to park in a garage and walk or park on the street.
“Students can view the art at the KIA for the first hour of prom (8 p.m-9 p.m.) for free. So that is something new and different that students can choose to take advantage of,” Johnson said.
“I think the theme is cool and fun but I wish we could actually wear mask,” Dana Plyley ‘17 said.
Plyley is just looking forward to hanging with friends and hopes to enjoy her last prom.
“I hope there’s less drama and that before prom goes smooth,” said Plyley
Jacqueline Brignall ‘17 did not go to prom last year so hopes that her first and only prom is memorable.
“I’m just looking forward to dressing up and chilling with my gang,” Brignall said. “I also heard about last year and hope no adult crash the prom this year.”
