PHS has traditionally spent every spring preparing for the annual Collage performance put on by the choir and band. Now that former choir teacher Keith Cahoon has retired, students have been wondering what’s next. While Collage won’t be around this year, something new to our school has been proposed: a talent show.
Signs have been placed around the school to advertise an informational meeting about the talent show next Thursday, Dec. 11.
The show will be put on by the Student Senate, and like Collage, will take place after school hours.
“It’s supposed to be a replacement for Collage, but we’ll include more,” said Senate adviser Andrew Hansen. “Our plan is to offer more than just singing, instruments, and dance. We’re hoping to incorporate other people as well.”
The talent show will be a nice contrast to Collage, where only choir and band students could participate. The show will give students all over the school with talents ranging from magic to comedy and everything in between a chance to finally showcase them.
There has been talk of something like a talent show for years at Plainwell, so it makes sense that some students are wondering if it will actually become a real thing this time around. The answer is maybe.
“If not many people show interest in the show, we probably won’t do it,” said president of the Student Senate Lauren Stefl.
What does “interest” look like? Simply going to the meeting next week, where students will be given a chance to sign up for the show as well as learn a bit more about it.
“We really just want to see how much interest we are going to have,” added Stefl.
Without a Collage performance, the talent show has potential to be a solid replacement, but we’ll only have it if students come out. So make sure to attend the meeting and practice your talent!
