Plainwell has high hopes for districts. The fans and players have mixed feelings about how it will go. The team has a high ceiling, but a low floor. Anything could happen in the playoffs this year, and Plainwell looks to make a strong run. Coaches are confident, players are confident, and fans vary with emotion. However, this year’s Plainwell boys plan to prove themselves and pull some upsets in this year’s district playoffs games.
Nolan Edgell (‘25) was asked about his expectations for districts. He went on to say, “I expect to make a good run and surprise many people. The only question is if we can make it to finals and win it. I think we will definitely make a decent run even if we don’t make it all the way.”
Despite Edgell’s positive outlook, it is expected by many people that Plainwell loses in the first round. Edgell and the team look to prove the haters wrong. Drew Nelson (‘25) was also asked his expectations for the playoffs. He expressed his hopes for his teammate John Amaezechi (‘25) to continue to improve where it counts; “I think John will be our breakout player in districts, he has been getting more aggressive and I expect to see some sneaky buckets out of him. I expect to either lose the 2nd round, or win it all. There is no inbetween for us.”
The playoffs could be surprising for Plainwell. The fans, players, students, and coaches all hope for the team to go far and perform well.
