Being the last foreign exchange student to come to PHS, and very late in the year, there is not a lot of time to adjust to different things, like food.
Foreign exchange student David Angeletti ‘16 says he likes the food here more than Italy.
He also likes some of his classes here.
“I like algebra and chemistry,” says Angeletti.
Sports are a good way to interact and get to know people. Angeletti plays basketball. Being new it can be hard to make new friends but Angeletti has made lots of new friends.
“Other foreign exchange students and Zach Burnham (’16),” he said.
Yes the food is good and the people are nice but there is something that we can’t fully offer. He has four siblings, three brothers and one sister, and he is the second oldest. But he’s enjoying the break.
“I don’t miss my family,” the 17-year-old said.
He’s from Civitanova Marche, a much bigger town than Plainwell.
He is staying with the Pepple family. Of course there are a lot of differences in home life, including food. American Italian food is mostly pasta and pizza. What about his home country.
“Pasta, Pizza, and a lot of vegetables and fruit,” says Angeletti. But there’s a difference in the pizza.
“Kinda the same except it’s unhealthier here.”
On his free time Angeletti likes to do what any other teen wants to do.
“Hang out with friends, watch movies, and eating,” says Angeletti.
The most interesting thing he has seen or done in America so far is ice fishing, he said.
