Montrell Baker- Endeavors
Baker transferred from London Grove Middle School. “I was just looking for a change,” says Baker. Located in room 610, Baker is now in charge of detention, as well as the Endeavors online classes. When asked which actor would play him in a movie, Baker answered, chuckling, “Mekhi Phifer, probably.”
Denise Beauchamp- Choir
Beauchamp previously taught at Kennedy Junior High. “It’s in Naperville, Illinois. Just outside Chicago,” says Beauchamp, “My husband was born and raised in Plainwell, and I didn’t want to be three hours away from him so I came here.” Beauchamp got her start in music teaching early. “I started teaching piano lessons in 8th grade, and I’ve done that from then on.”
Stephanie Larson- Science
Larson recently switched to Plainwell High School after teaching science at Kalamazoo Central. “I live here, and my daughter will go to this school. I just really like the town– the area, the people. It’s really nice,” says Larson. When asked how she unwinds, Larson laughs, “I run and eat. Sometimes more of one than the other.”
Emily Johnson- Counselor
Previously at Club Metro Prep, Johnson came to Plainwell this year to counsel students with last names at the beginning of the alphabet. Larson is excited to welcome a new puppy into her home as well. “She’s so stinkin’ adorable. But she’s at the doggy daycare right now. We don’t trust her enough to leave her home alone yet,” says Johnson
Alex Stacy- English
Leaving Beach Middle School, Chelsea High School, and Dundee High School to come teacher English at Plainwell. “I wanted to come back to the west side of the state to be closer to my friends and my girlfriend,” says Stacy. Located in Mr. Sisson’s old room, Stacy is always willing to welcome others. “I come across as a pretty quiet and distant person to those who don’t know me, but I always like meeting new people and having good conversations, so please feel free to say ‘hey’ or stop into my class if you have questions about anything.”
